Frank Gaylord is a member of the second of three generations of his family to attend Stetson. His parents, Harry and Faustene, were both Stetson graduates, as was his brother, John.  Gaylord's late wife, KD, was also a Stetson graduate, as is their son, Kevin. After graduating from Stetson, Gaylord earned his law degree from Cumberland Law School at Samford University and has practiced law in Lake County since 1972. He served as the attorney for the City of Eustis, as County Prosecutor and as County Attorney for Lake County. He is a board-certified estate-planning and probate attorney (1988 to date). Gaylord is also an active member of a wide variety of civic organizations in his community. He was instrumental in establishing the renowned Roland George Investments Program at Stetson, and has served as a member of the School of Business Administration Board of Advisors. Gaylord joined Stetson's Board of Trustees in 1987 and was named Trustee Emeritus in May 2009 after 22 years of board service.
