The Student Employment Program at Stetson University College of Law pays students for services through a combination of federal, state and institutional funding. All students eligible to work in the U.S. may qualify for one of these funding sources.
Students are paid at the state minimum wage. Most students will be paid an hourly rate in accordance with our Pay Structure Policy and will be eligible to earn up to, but no more than, $3500 per fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from July 1st through June 30th. Students awarded Federal Work Study are eligible to to earn a maximum of $5,000 per year ($2,500 per term) by Financial Aid. Students should also be aware that they cannot work more than 20 hours per week total while participating in the Student Employment Program.
Students will be paid bi-weekly. Students are encouraged to set up direct deposit; however, if this is not set up, students will receive payment in the form of a check that can be picked up in the Business Office. Students will need to show ID at the Business Office to pick up their paycheck.

Student employees who do not complete their timesheet by the deadline will have to complete a Payroll Variance Form in order to get paid. This form will then be e-signed by the student's supervisor and processed by Payroll Services.
Students awarded a federal work-study allocation as part of their financial aid award demonstrated a specific level of need on the results of their FAFSA. These students are eligible to seek on-campus employment through available resources and will be able to earn a portion or all of their allocated work-study funds if they're hired. Receiving an allocation of work-study funds with your initial financial aid award does not guarantee placement in a position on campus or that you will be able to earn all of the allocated funds.

For international students who are eligible to work on campus, the hiring process may take longer than for domestic students and can require additional steps. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement website contains more information regarding on-campus employment. International students should contact People Operations for assistance once offered a student employment position.
Yes. Once hired, students must complete several forms as determined by federal, state and institutional regulations. More specific information about these requirements is available on the Student Employee Resources page.
