Law Honors Program

The Stetson Law Honors Program is designed to give you a strong foundation in the historical and theoretical aspects of the legal profession, preparing you for the practice of law. As a full-time JD student, you may qualify for the Honors Program at Stetson Law if you demonstrate exceptional ability and achievement in your first three semesters. If you are a part-time student, you can qualify by showcasing outstanding performance in your first and second years of law school.
As a student in the Honors Program at Steston Law, you will have access to exclusive opportunities, including faculty works-in-progress presentations, discussions with prominent scholars from other institutions, and meetings with esteemed members of the bench and bar. By completing the Honors Colloquium, you will receive a certificate at graduation, recognizing your participation in the Honors Program at Stetson Law.
Full-time students whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.40 at the end of their first, second, or third semester, and part-time students whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.40 at the end of their second, third, or fourth semester will be invited to interview for the Honors Program at Stetson Law. Invitations, interviews, and selection decisions occur during the summer for the following academic year.
Students must have a full academic year remaining to be eligible for the Honors Program at Stetson Law. The Honors Program Director will determine which students are selected for the program. Typically, the program includes between 15 and 25 students.
All Stetson Law Honors Program students will be required to take the following courses:
LAW 3535 - Honors Colloquium
The Honors Colloquium is designed for students accepted into Stetson Law's Honors Program based on academic performance in the first half of law school. Students in the Honors Colloquium attend various scholarly presentations at the College of Law, and periodic seminar-style meetings with the Program Director. Students may also elect to participate in the Honors Program Research Workshop in which the student will write a series of scholarly pieces under the guidance of one or more faculty members.
