Advancing Legal Writing Through Rhetoric and Research
Legal Rhetorical Scholarship and Applied Advocacy
The Institute for the Advancement of Legal Communication is launching a professional certificate program designed to strengthen scholarly development, deepen rhetorical expertise, and build a sustained intellectual community within the legal writing field. This program moves beyond traditional professional development, providing participants the opportunity to engage in rigorous theoretical study, applied analysis, and meaningful production of scholarship or pedagogical materials.
Program Overview
Participants may enroll in individual courses or bundle together multiple courses at a discount. Each course culminates in a substantial applied project and presentation. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a digital certificate and Credly digital badge issued by the Institute for the Advancement of Legal Communication.
These courses are designed for anyone in legal academia or the legal writing community who wants to deepen their expertise in rhetorical theory, expand their scholarly toolkit, or strengthen their approach to inclusive advocacy. They are especially well‑suited for:

- Doctrinal faculty who are interested in integrating rhetorical inquiry into their scholarship or classroom instruction.
- Visiting, contract, or non‑tenure‑track faculty who are building a scholarly profile for the job market or preparing for promotion and tenure review.
