Professor Nino C. Monea is the Bruce R. Jacob Visiting Assistant Professor at Stetson Law School, teaching Evidence and Professional Responsibility. He previously taught at the United States Military Academy (West Point) in the Department of Law, teaching Constitutional Law, Military Law, and Criminal Law. His research focuses on structural inequalities in the criminal justice system, the need for democratic legitimacy in judicial institutions, and the role of the military in society.

 

He graduated from Harvard Law School (J.D.) and Eastern Michigan University (B.S.). After graduation, he clerked for Justice Bridget Mary McCormack on the Michigan Supreme Court and then commissioned in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General Corps. There, he served as a legal assistance attorney, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and military prosecutor. He also deployed with a Special Operations Command task force, advising on counterterrorism and diplomatic operations throughout the Middle East and Central Asia.

 

Professor Monea serves in the U.S. Army Reserves as a trial defense attorney, and is a Fellow with the National Institute of Military Justice.
