2025 Career to Campus to Career
As the Spring semester comes to a close and we look forward to the start of the Summer semester, come join us for the Career to Campus to Career Conference week occurring May 19 through May 22 (see the schedule below for specific times). This week is packed with programming that will empower you on multiple fronts, including how to identify and use your superpowers in the law field and how to deal with the change and transition period that you're going through. Additionally, you will not want to miss the panelist session during which you will hear graduates from Stetson Law's Part-Time program talk about their law school experience and how they got to where they are at. You will also get the chance to meet with and connect with the accomplished group of panelists. As an added bonus, there is a prize that will be given away to one lucky attendee after each of the sessions.
Schedule
Identifying and Using Superpowers Session
Monday, May 19, 12:00 - 12:45 p.m.
No, we're not talking about flying or spider-sense (regardless of how awesome those are). This session is aimed at providing you with an understanding of what a superpower is career-wise and why they are important. Interestingly, most people don't even know that they have these superpowers, let alone how valuable they are to employers. The session will help you understand what your superpowers are and how to market these to legal employers as you progress in the next chapter of your career journey.
Speaker: Cathy Martin, Assistant Dean for Career and Professional Development
Prize: Top Golf gift card
Transitions: Steps to Understanding the Change and Transition Period that You're Going Through
Tuesday, May 20, 12:00 - 12:45 p.m.
You are likely experiencing a lot of change right now, whether it be adjusting to law school, a new location, changing jobs, etc. Change surrounds us, and you are likely going through a lot of it as you continue on in your law school journey. What's important is how we deal with change, and that is through a process called transition. This session will discuss the transition process and how it applies to you, your decision to attend law school, and your transition into becoming a legal professional.
Speaker: Ryan Harvey, Assistant Director for Career and Professional Development, Flex JD Program
Prize: Gift card to the Bookstore
How'd You Manage It Panel/Roundtable
Wednesday, May 21, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Hear from a panel of Stetson Law Part-Time graduates! The goal of the panel is for graduates from Stetson Law's Part-Time program to share their experience in law school, some tips, and how they got to where they are today. Furthermore, this provides an opportunity for you to connect/network with some graduates of Stetson Law's Part-Time program. One half of the session will be in a traditional panel format with questions regarding the panelists' experiences in law school and how they got to where they are at. After that, we anticipate having a virtual mentoring/networking session where you can talk, ask questions, and mingle with the panelists. Each panelist will have their own virtual breakout room, and you can go in and out of the panelists' rooms as you choose. The entire session will be approximately an hour and a half (45 mins for the panel portion and 45 mins for the networking portion).
Panelists: Allison Stevenson, Shareholder at Hill Ward Henderson; Virginia Edwards, General Counsel for the Florida Education Association; Lauren Rice, Assistant Statewide Prosecutor for the Office of the Attorney General; Jealixson Jean-Simon, Assistant Public Defender for the 6th Judicial Circuit
Prize: Lunch with two (2) Hill Ward Henderson Partners/Sharholders.
Feedback/Roundup Session
Thursday, May 22, 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.
This session provides a recap of the previous events and gives you the time to provide your thoughts on them. This is a chance for you to reflect on the sessions that you attended and give thoughtful feedback on the content in order for us to better future installations of the sessions and/or the Career to Campus to Career Conference in general.
