Timothy Peter, Director of Choral Activities, named Interim Dean of School of Music

Timothy Peter, D.M.A., professor and director of Choral Activities, was named Tuesday as the interim dean of the Stetson School of Music, effective immediately.

Stetson Provost and Executive Vice President Noel Painter, Ph.D., made the announcement in an email to faculty and staff on Tuesday morning. 

Peter joined Stetson in 2012 following many years of teaching, conducting and leadership at Luther College. He remains involved in the National Collegiate choral organization and the American Choral Director Association, having held both state and regional chair positions. 

He has prepared choirs and orchestras for performances at national and international venues, including Carnegie Hall in Manhattan and the Seoul Foreign School Center for the Performing Arts. He has also conducted in Singapore, Germany, England, Namibia, Oman, South Africa and South Korea. 

At Stetson, Peter has conducted and will continue to conduct Stetson’s premier choral ensemble, Concert Choir.
