  • Law Professor Peter Lake is quoted in the July 13 Inside Higher Ed article, “When Jurisdiction Matters in Campus Rape.” Law Professor Peter Lake is quoted in the July 13 Lexington Herald Leader article, “Many UK students don’t report sexual assaults. Could new rules make things worse?” Law Professor Peter Lake is quoted in the July 18 Michigan News article, “Stopping Nassar-related reform legislation is condition of MSU settlement.”
  • Eric Kurlander, Ph.D., professor of history, and his book, “Hitler’s Monsters: A Supernatural History of the Third Reich,” were featured July 16 in an article by Communities Digital News entitled, “Hitler’s Monsters: Heidrich Himmler and the supernatural underpinnings of the Third Reich.” His book also was featured July 13 by other media outlets, including an article in The Federalist, entitled, “Indiana Jones Isn’t Wrong—The Nazis’ Fascination With The Occult Was Very Real.” The book “provides a sober scholarly treatment of a subject that has frequently been sensationalized in pop history potboilers as well as pop culture,” according to the article.

  • K.C. Ma, Ph.D., CFA, director of Roland George Investments Program, was quoted in U.S. News and World Report on July 19 in a story, “Microsoft Earnings Impress in Stellar Q4.” Microsoft has shifted to a cloud-centered enterprise, increasing its revenue growth. “This surge in profitability is the main reason why MSFT stock doubled in the last two years,” Ma said.
  • Isabel Botero, Ph.D., assistant professor of Family Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and Ram Subramanian, Ph.D., professor of Leadership, were mentioned in the article, “Why Family Businesses are the Hidden Gems of Latin America,” on July 13 in Tharawat Magazine for Family Business and Entrepreneurs. The two professors are among the co-authors of a book, “Family Firms in Latin America,” which provides an academic understanding of family business dynamics within that region.
  • Stetson University was mentioned in the story, “The raising of a Hall of Famer: For Chipper Jones, the perfect upbringing,” on July 19 in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, ahead of the former Braves player being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The story notes Jones’ father, Larry, played shortstop and later became a coach at Stetson under former head baseball coach Pete Dunn. Dunn is Chipper Jones’ godfather and coached him as a boy during summer baseball camps at Stetson, according to the article.

  • Alumna and Cantor Riselle Bain is mentioned in a review by Talkin’ Broadway of a play that she wrote while a student at Stetson, called “Tops from Flops.” Bain also performed in the play by The Players Centre for the Performing Arts in Sarasota.
  • Alumna and Maine resident Alison McKellar will talk there Aug. 15 about her work as volunteer and chair of the Board of Directors of the nonprofit NuDay Syria, which collects supplies for Syrian refugees fleeing from violence in their country, according to an article in the Penobscot Bay Pilot.
  • Alumnus Henry Brown, CEO of family-owned Miller Electric Company, was featured in a story in the Jacksonville Daily Record, “You Should Know … Henry Brown,” on July 19. Brown received a Master’s degree in Accountancy from Stetson University.
  • Alumnus Jonathan Martin has been appointed to the Florida Southwestern State College District Board of Trustee, according to Capital Soup. Martin, of Fort Myers, an attorney with Parvey & Frankel Attorneys, P.A., received his bachelor’s degree from Stetson.
