Following the Artificial Intelligence, Cannabis, Virtual Realty 4, and Drones 9 indices approved in past years, RGIP students will launch a new index — the first of its kind — focusing on environmental, social and governance. In addition, recognizing the buzz and corresponding confusion surrounding the topic of Bitcoin, RGIP students will use this event to educate the local community on the history of Bitcoin, as well as the pros and cons often associated with cryptocurrency.

The Stetson University School of Business Administration Roland George Investments Program is known for having one of the nation’s oldest and best market performances and is directed entirely by Stetson University students. The pioneering program empowers students to manage a portfolio comprising $3.5 million in real money invested in stocks and bonds. They use fundamental research tools and leading data services to identify and research the best investment recommendations to students and trustees of the investments committee.

The RGIP Public Trustee Meeting will take place Tuesday, March 20, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Stetson University Marshall & Vera Lea Rinker Welcome Center, 529 N. Woodland Blvd., in DeLand.

During the meeting, which is free and open to the public, students will begin by providing an educational background on the hot topic of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.  Students will then discuss a new index that includes three stock recommendations for the RGIP Growth Fund, focusing on environmental, social and governance. Students will also present three additional stock recommendations. Trustees and audience members will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the index and stock recommendations. Immediately following the question-and-answer period, trustees will vote on each stock recommendation.

Due to limited seating, reservations are highly recommended. For more information, contact K.C. Ma, Ph.D., C.F.A., Roland George Chair of Applied Investments, George professor and Director of George Investments Institute at [email protected] or 386-822-7496.
