Opera Scenes at Athens, Friday and Saturday

Join Opera Theatre Stetson University for two gala evenings of opera scenes celebrating the many scenes of love, the most powerful of emotions. Experience the drowning passion of Anthony and Cleopatra: the irresistible pull of the forbidden in Puccini’s Edgar: and  the despair of unrequited love in Lucia Di Lammermoor. Sigh at the sweet beauty of Der Vogelhandler, giggle along with the mischievous ladies quartet in Verdi’s Falstaff, and enjoy the madcap misadventures of love with Milton Grainger’s The Proposal, Rossini’s II Viaggio aa Reims, and Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore.

Opera Scenes will run Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, 7:30 p.m. at the Athens Theater. Ticket prices are $10. Adults; $8. Seniors; $5 students; Stetson IDs and Concert Series Cards are complimentary admission.  Tickets are on sale now at Presser Hall, or by calling 386-822-8950. The Athens Theater is located at 124 North Florida Ave., DeLand.
