LUKASHENKO: WE ARE BROTHERS WITH RUSSIA AND UKRAINE, COMING FROM SAME BAPTISMAL FONT
Union of Orthodox Journalists, 28 January 2022
Alexander Lukashenko addressed a message to the Belorussian parliament. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed the hope that Ukraine will return to the bosom of Slavdom.
On 28 January, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, addressing the Belorussian parliament, declared that the West is oppressing the Slavic peoples and he also repeated that Ukraine must necessarily come into the "bosom of our Slavdom," RIA Novosti reports.
In Lukashenko's opinion, Ukraine has become the object of behind-the-scene bargaining.
"Ukrainians are being pushed into the flames of conflict, their consciousness is being broken, and they are deliberately being prepared for aggression. A hostile attitude toward fraternal peoples is being formed, including toward Belorussians," he said in his address to parliament.
The Belarusian president is certain that for the West it is important "to drown the Russo-Ukrainian brotherhood in blood," and therefore it is necessary to maintain the ties of the Slavic nations.
"We are native Slavic peoples, having come from the same baptismal font. Our roots are from the depths of the centuries, and this must be preserved, no matter what it costs, because brotherhood is much higher than far-fetched parochial political ambitions," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
