• Associate Professor of Accounting Maria Rickling, PhD, and Associate Professor of Decision and Information Sciences Petros Xanthopoulos, PhD, were quoted in the Citybizlist South Florida story, “Stetson University Launches New Graduate-Level Data Analytics Tracks in Accounting and Business,” on Oct. 19.

• Rajni Shankar-Brown, PhD, associate professor and Jessie Ball duPont Endowed Chair of Social Justice Education, and alumna Autumn Johnson ’20 were quoted in an article from WMAR-TV, an ABC-affiliate in the Baltimore area. The article, titled, “Never give up! Homeless high-schooler to college grad,” was published on Oct. 16.

• Associate Professor of Finance Giovanni Fernandez, PhD, was quoted in the U.S. News & World Report article, “How to Teach Your College-Age Kids About Debt,” on Oct. 16. The article discusses ways to teach young adults how to handle loans and financial debt.

• Associate Professor of Public Health Asal Johnson, PhD, was quoted in the Orlando Sentinel on Oct. 14 in the article, “Biketoberfest rolls on amid COVID-19, but without mud wrestling or big concerts.”

• Senior Bryson Pritchard was featured in the story, “Ormond resident is a finalist in collegiate inventors competition,” in the Ormond Beach Observer on Oct. 17. Pritchard was recently selected as one of 10 finalists in the 2020 Collegiate Inventors Competition for his dyad syringe invention. This news also appeared on Citybizlist and in the Utah Statesman.

• The article, “Sound sculpture hit high note at Stetson’s Hand Art Center,” appeared in the West Volusia Beacon on Oct. 18.

• Law Professor Louis J. Virelli III was interviewed on Spectrum News 13 on Oct. 14 in the segment, “Judiciary hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett.” Professor Virelli also was interviewed on Court TV giving expert analysis on the SCOTUS nominee hearing.

• Law Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy was quoted in an Oct. 21 article for Reuters called, “Democrats seize on U.S. Supreme Court election deadlock in Barrett fight.” The article was picked up by several news sites, including Yahoo! Finance and Al Jazeera.

• Law Professor Rebecca C. • Stetson’s baseball team had six players named to the 2011-20 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Decade Team: Logan Gilbert, Mark Jones, Patrick Mazeika, Robbie Powell, Kurt Schluter and Brooks Wilson, according to the West Volusia Beacon on Oct. 15.

• Alumna Elena Philipova was featured in the Best Execution article, “European Women in Finance : Elena Philipova : Setting standards,” on Oct. 15. Philipova is the head of environmental, social and governance at Refinitiv.

• Law alumna and member of the Stetson Law Board of Overseers Anne Weintraub was featured in an Oct. 16 profile on Thrive Global Community.  

• Law alumna Rebecca White is one of five attorneys in consideration to replace retiring Indian River County Judge David Morgan, according to an Oct. 16 article in the TCPalm.  

• Law alumnus Doug Thornley was sworn in as the new Reno city manager, according to the Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
