The Hatters are making big news in beach volleyball — as a team and as pairs. 

Stetson juniors Carly Perales (Round Rock, Texas) and Sunniva Helland-Hansen (Oystese, Norway) were named the AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com national Pair of the Week, announced on March 19. They also were named ASUN Pair of the Week.

Perales and Helland-Hansen — both of whom made the ASUN All-Conference and ASUN All-Tournament teams in 2018 — went a perfect 4-0 at the Gamecock Grand Slam, winning all eight of their sets. They defeated teams from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State and South Carolina, earning the clinching point in Stetson’s 4-1 win over the Gamecocks. A week earlier, they also won their 50th career dual as a pair at Stetson.

Perales and Helland-Hansen are the first Stetson duo to earn national Pair of the Week honors in program history. It was their second ASUN Pair of the Week award this season and third of their career.

The Hatters entered the week ranked No. 10 nationally.
