The Hatters celebrate their ASUN championship after beating the University of North Florida in Jacksonville on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Coming off a record-setting 2018 season in which the Stetson baseball program captured both the regular season and ASUN Tournament titles in addition to an NCAA Regional championship, the Hatters have been picked by the leagues’ head coaches to repeat as ASUN Champions.

The Hatters received six of nine first place votes and edged second place Jacksonville with four points. The Dolphins received two first place votes with FGCU picking up the final vote.

League newcomer Liberty, which is coming off a 32-26 record in 2018 as a member of the Big South Conference where the Flames finished third in league play, was picked to finish third in its first season of ASUN play.

The Hatters also had two players named to the preseason All-ASUN team. Junior pitcher Mitchell Senger, who did not earn ASUN season honors last year despite posting a 9-2 record with a 2.51 ERA and 114 strikeouts, was a unanimous preseason selection this year in addition to earning the preseason Pitcher of the Year award.

In addition to his selection to the preseason All-ASUN team, Senger has also been selected as a second team preseason All-American by D1Baseball.com, Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball.

Senger was joined on the preseason team by senior outfielder Jacob Koos, who was also selected as the fan-voted preseason Player of the Year. Koos enters his final season after hitting .291 last spring with 21 extra-base hits, 34 runs batted in and a team-best 23 stolen bases.
