A total of 16 students from teams across the country, including six Texas schools, competed in the unique competition, in which law students serve and are judged on their effectiveness as mediators.

“The competition gives students an opportunity to represent clients in the important role of mediation,” said Professor Erika McArdle, Associate Director for the Center for Excellence in Advocacy at Stetson. “Mediators can help resolve conflicts and disputes of great magnitude, and assist in reaching settlements. This kind of role-playing helps prepare students to be the best real-world advocates they can be, and these students advocated with extraordinary poise and professionalism.”

Professor Kelly Feeley coached and McArdle traveled with the team.

“Professor Feeley was the heart and soul of the team, providing great support as their coach,” said McArdle.
