Craig Cramer, D.M.A., professor of organ at the University of Notre Dame, will be tickling the ivories during the School of Music’s Great Organists at Stetson series in the Lee Chapel in Elizabeth Hall on Friday, Sept. 28. The evening’s program will include music by Toni Zahnbrecher (b.1950), a partita by Georg Böhm, Passacaglia in C Minor by J.S. Bach and other classical music works.

Cramer has been a professor at the University of Notre Dame for the past 37 years and was honored with the university’s prestigious Kaneb Distinguished Faculty Award. He has received degrees from Westminster Choir College and the Eastman School of Music where he earned his doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance. Cramer is one of the most traveled organists of his generation and maintains an active recital career across the country and in Europe.

He was the featured performer during the 2008 Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative Festival in Rochester, New York, and one of the featured organ soloists at the American Guild of Organists National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2014. Cramer has recorded three CDs and his performances are frequently broadcasted on American Public Media’s “Pipedreams” program.
