Brooks Wilson Selected as ASUN Spring Winner for Life

LakePoint, Ga. – The ASUN Conference recognized its 2017-18 Spring Winners for Life team on Thursday. The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the eight institutions from the 2017-18 academic year and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.

The ASUN Baseball Player of the Year for his multitude of abilities, Stetson’s Brooks Wilson joins the Spring Winners for Life Team. Serving as both Stetson’s Designated Hitter and Closer for the 2018 season, Wilson earned a multitude of All-American honors as he helped the Hatters reach their first-ever NCAA Super Regional as Stetson became the first ASUN Baseball program to host an NCAA Regional Tournament.

Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the Seventh Round, Wilson earned the John Olerud Award as the nation’s best two-way player.

Wilson joins with Sarah Collins from the women’s soccer team (fall) and Abayomi Iyiola from men’s basketball (winter) as ASUN Winner for Life selections for 2017-18 from Stetson.

The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.

The ASUN Conference is a NCAA Division I league with eight member institutions committed to Building Winners for Life. The ASUN meets the challenge of maintaining the highest standards in academic and athletic achievement with a true balance between student and athlete. The ASUN includes a blend of the most prestigious and dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Florida Gulf Coast University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Liberty University, Lipscomb University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of North Alabama, University of North Florida and Stetson University.
