Stetson University ranks as one of “The Best Colleges for Your Money,” according to Time’s MONEY magazine.

The magazine looked at 2,400 public and private colleges and universities nationwide and ranked them based on 27 factors, including educational quality, affordability and alumni success. Stetson was listed among 711 best colleges in the country, according to the 2017 ranking released this week.

“College is now the second-largest financial expenditure for many families, exceeded only by the purchase of a home. So it isn’t surprising that parents and students are taking a hard look at the costs and payoffs of any college they consider,” the magazine wrote. “To help families do that, MONEY has drawn on the research and advice of dozens of the nation’s top experts on education quality, financing, and value to develop a new, uniquely practical analysis of more than 700 of the nation’s best-performing colleges.”

The magazine listed the estimated price of Stetson for the 2017-2018 academic year as $26,800 after factoring in the average grant award. Seventy-two percent of students receive need-based grants and 13 percent receive merit grants, the magazine reported.

Other colleges in Central Florida that made the list included Rollins College and the University of Central Florida.
