Rachel Cosker, shown with her horse, Serengeti or “Geti” for short, placed in the Top 10 nationally last weekend in New Jersey.

For Cosker, who has been riding horses for 13 years and competing for six, qualifying for the 2017 Intercollegiate Dressage National Championship and placing in the Top 10 was a huge accomplishment.

The competition took place on April 29 and 30 at Centenary College in New Jersey.

Cosker also considers it to be an accomplishment for Stetson. As the first Stetson student to qualify for the event, Cosker was able to represent the university on a national level, competing with larger schools, such as the University of Florida.

“I’m really excited for Stetson’s Equestrian Club as a whole to be represented like this, especially because we’ve only been competing for a couple of years,” said Cosker, who is majoring in Business Administration. “It’s really exciting that I can go out and represent a small school.”
