What’s Trending? Staying Home

One new index recommendation has much to do with recent legislation in Florida (Cannabis). Another index (E-commerce) is based on ease and convenience, while a third is aptly named Chill.

Each index is included in a total of eight stock pitches that business students will present during Stetson University’s Roland George Investments Program Public Trustee Meeting on March 20. The event, held at the Marshall & Vera Lea Welcome Center on campus, begins at 5 p.m. and is open to the public. Immediately following the presentations and a question-and-answer period, the trustees will vote on funding for each stock.

Students will present eight new stock recommendations to Stetson trustees.

With the investment thesis of “Stay Home and Chill,” the students hope to illustrate how society now is embracing the idea of stay home and chill versus going out for entertainment. The popular website Well+Good has named the nesting phenomenon one of 2017’s biggest wellness trends. The three new indices follow the Drones 9, Virtual Realty 4 and Cloud 9 indices released in recent years by the Roland George Investments Program. Commonly referred to as RGIP and part of Stetson’s School of Business Administration, the program is recognized for having one of the nation’s oldest and best market performances directed entirely by students, who manage a real portfolio of $3.5 million in stocks and bonds.
