Women’s Soccer celebrates 20 years

The Stetson women’s soccer program will celebrate 20 years of Hatter history this weekend, highlighted by an Alumni Contest and postgame festivities for current and former players on Saturday, August 4.

“It’s a new beginning for Stetson Soccer,” Head Coach Julie Orlowski said earlier this week.  “We have a new facility and a lot of new people coming into the program.  Before we look forward we have to pay homage to the past, and show respect for those people who came before us.”

“That’s what this event is all about,” Orlowski continued.  “It’s very important for this generation of players to realize what the players before them did so that the current players can have the opportunities that they have now.  It’s the alumni that laid the foundation for the future of Stetson Women’s Soccer.”

Since the women’s soccer program began in 1993, the Hatters of the past will be honored with a 20th Anniversary Celebration tentatively scheduled for Saturday night in the Hall of Fame Room at theEdmundsCenter.

Saturday will be filled with events for both current and former players, beginning with an “alumni vs. alumni” game in the afternoon.  To be immediately followed by a green/white scrimmage for the current Hatters, the action is scheduled to begin around 3:00 or 4:00 p.m.

Be sure to make your way out to the Stetson Soccer Complex this Saturday for all the festivities.  Come back to GoHatters.com for photos and video following the weekend’s events.
