It’s a ‘Cellobration’

J.S. Bach will do battle with Michael Jackson in a spirited concert featuring the Stetson University Cello Choir in concert Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. “Cellobration” will be held in Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Stetson cello professor David Bjella will lead 12 cellists in a variety of compositions, including works by Handel, Bruch, Klengel Villa Lobos, Bach, Little Grey Girl and Michael Jackson. Stetson student, Feryal Qudourah, will be the featured soprano soloist with the Villa Lobos.

A selective group of the finest high school cellists in the state will join the Stetson Cello Choir for the second half, ending with a dynamic version of Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.”
