Summer at Stetson: Special Session

Special Summer Session for Fall 2020 First Year Students

Stetson is offering all Fall 2020 First Year students a Special Summer Session that starts in June. Faculty are offering a variety of courses specifically for incoming students including public speaking, psychology, health and wellness, digital arts, economics, history, math, or computer science. For this Special Summer Session, faculty are also offering students a chance to get an early start on our signature Stetson course — First Year Seminar — taught by some of our most engaging faculty. Many of these courses fulfill general education requirements; all of them provide a great opportunity to engage with Stetson faculty and students in learning, exploring and expanding your Stetson experience.

Alternatively, Stetson is offering a select number of courses in a shortened 3 ½-week session between June 18 and July 17. These short, intense learning experiences are good choices for First Year students and include art courses in drawing and painting, an introduction to sociology and a professional communications course in the School of Business.

Students may take no more than two courses in the six-week term that runs June 22-July 31 and/or in Session 3 that runs June 18-July 17.

Special Summer Session Scholarship

All Fall 2020 First Year students, including new transfer students, will qualify for a $1,000 Scholarship toward the price of one course during either the Summer Session 3, 3 ½-week course or the Special Summer Session six-week term. This represents a significant reduction of nearly 50% on normal summer pricing. All courses are online, so you can complete a course wherever you are or wherever you might be traveling to this summer as the nation opens again. As our current students and Student Success staff will tell you, taking a summer class helps prepare you for fall classes and gives you a head start on completing your Stetson degree.

Summer Engagement Experience with Stetson faculty and staff

During this Special Summer Session, faculty and staff will also be offering several short, concentrated and special seminar experiences — generally one, two or three partial day seminars — all designed to highlight contemporary ideas and topics. These are non-credit, non-graded learning adventures. All engagement experiences are online, so you can join in from anywhere, and there is no cost for participation
