Working for Student Success

The university's Campus Life and Student Success area is collaborating with multiple entities, including Academic Affairs, Institutional Research and the Student Success Collaborative to improve student retention and persistence and support student success outcomes.

May 2017 Athletics Status Report

178 Hatters Recognized for Academic Excellence

Stetson placed third in the conference academic rankings with 178 of its student-athletes earning ASUN Honor Roll recognition. Nearly 70 percent of Stetson's ASUN student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better.

Hatters Place Five on 2017 All-ASUN Teams

The Hatters, Stetson's baseball team finished second in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) this spring, one game behind league champion Jacksonville. They had five players recognized for various the awards by ASUN.

'I'm a Baltimore Raven!'

Stetson's Donald Payne is drafted by NFL Baltimore Raven's. He's the first Hatter to sign an NFL contract in the league's modern era and could be the first-ever, according to both Stetson head coach Roger Hughes and athletics director Jeff Altier. Neither has found documented confirmation. Stetson rebooted its football program in 2012 after a 57-year hiatus.

Hatter Places Sixth in National Equestrian Competition

Rachel Cosker, a first-year student at Stetson University, became the first member of the Stetson Equestrian Club to compete in the Intercollegiate Dressage National Championship and took sixth place.

131,000 Annual Hours of Student Volunteerism

Intent on continually supporting student success and significance, Stetson emphasizes community service. While more than 800 colleges and universities apply for the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll each year, Stetson is the only one nationwide to receive that recognition "with distinction" — cited in all four categories of the honor roll for the second consecutive year: General Community Service, Interfaith Community Service, Economic Opportunity and Education.

Hats Off!

Coaching athletic success and significance: In fall 2016, former Hatter standout Corey Kluber helped lead the Cleveland Indians into their first World Series since 1997 while also winning the American League Cy Young Award for best pitcher. In 2015, Jacob DeGrom helped pitch the New York Mets into the World Series. Each credits Stetson for contributing to their accomplishments.
