About the Series
Vision
The Social Justice Lecture Series will strive to foster a sense of lifelong vigilance that equips participants to effect social change through community engagement and civic responsibility.
Mission
The Stetson University Social Justice Lecture Series will engage its communities in an intensive exploration of social justice by inviting accomplished leaders to Stetson University who will enrich and motivate our understanding of those issues and, in doing so, increase the university's significance as a teaching and learning environment that emphasizes personal and social responsibility. The Social Justice Lecture Series is grounded in the university's values and serves as a platform for ongoing curricular and experiential learning opportunities that relate directly to social justice issues.
Learning Outcomes
- The lectures should prompt participants to think critically about the historical context of social justice issues while focusing on current social and economic justice challenges and the interdisciplinary thought and leadership skills necessary for meeting such challenges.
- The Social Justice Lecture series will serve as a platform for further dialogue within our community, through related coursework, conferences, symposia and service-based learning activities related to current local, regional and national social justice projects and initiatives.
