Bec is a double major in religious studies and human resource management, a member of Theta Alpha Kappa (religious studies honorary) and a recipient of the Business School Foundation Merit Award for Human Resource Management. One faculty member described Bec as “one of the most engaged and insightful students I have observed during my time at Stetson. Bec models how the religious studies scholar can illuminate the reciprocal influences between religion and politics, social justice, equity, economics, and cultural values.”
In addition to being a superb student in the classroom, Bec is a gifted leader who has put many hours into endeavors assisting the Department of Religious Studies, the Interfaith Values Fellows, the Business Ethics Case Competition Team, and other aspects of Stetson (including serving on the Dean Search Committee for the School of Business).
As an Interfaith Values Fellow at Stetson, Bec has worked with administration, staff and student organizations to organize campus events intended to foster community among students of all (or no) faith backgrounds. In helping to establish interreligious and cross-cultural understanding on our campus, Bec not only has exhibited a desire to learn about new ideas and practices but also has played an important role in encouraging and developing this trait in others.
After graduation, Bec plans to move to Nashville, Tennessee, and work in an entry-level Human Resources position and would love eventually to go into HR consulting for the non-profit sector.
