Maral is a first-generation college student who has excelled in the Biology Department at Stetson, taking a diverse range of classes and illustrating her interest in all fields of Biology. During her time at Stetson, Maral has served as a Teaching Assistant for Biology III (Ecology and Evolution) and as a Stetson Peer Instructor for Introductory Biology I (Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics), demonstrating her enthusiasm for the subject and engaging other students. In her senior year, Maral designed and executed a research project to test the efficacy of an entomopathogenic fungus to spider mite pests of horticulture, bringing together her interests in insects and fungi. After graduation, Maral plans to take a gap year during which she wants to expand upon her senior research project with the intent of submitting a manuscript to publish her results. During this time, she will apply to graduate school programs. Maral has a broad range of interests in Biology, spanning topics such as mycology and entomology to microbiology and genetics, and she intends to pursue graduate work in a field she is passionate about studying.
