Laura Jones

Biology

Laura has availed herself of research opportunities within the Biology Department as well as at the Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience. Specifically, she worked in both saltwater and fresh, working on a wide variety of projects, including evaluating the effect of light pollution on marine plankton, using fish to define a spring as an ecosystem and measuring the variability in water quality in Lake Beresford over the course of at least a year. Laura also completed an internship at the Marine Science Center working in the education department and sea turtle hospital.

On campus, Laura was the president of the Ocean Conservation and Ecology of Animals club for three years, a lead Resident Assistant, a student ambassador, and in Stetson’s Clarinet Choir. This summer she will be a marine science camp instructor at the Florida Aquarium for pre-K to 4th grade and, in the fall, she will pursue a Master of Science in Marine Science and Oceanography.
