Kiera was a double major in communication and media studies and business administration, with a double minor in digital arts and marketing. She was a member of Lambda Pi Eta (National Honor Society for Communication Studies), Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honor Society) and Chi Alpha Sigma (National College Athlete Honor Society).

Kiera used qualitative research methods to explore communication in hunger-relief settings that culminated in her senior thesis, “Combating Food Insecurity During COVID-19: Health and Safety Communication in Food Banks.” While she was an undergraduate student, she was a Visual Marketing Intern at GRD Biomechanics and a Social Media Marketing Intern at Florida Collegiate Summer League.

After graduating, Kiera enrolled in Stetson’s MBA program, and she is scheduled to graduate in August 2022. The Communication and Media Studies faculty recognize Kiera’s hard work, ability to unpack complex ideas and her desire to shed light on the problems facing charity food organizations and our narratives of what food insecurity looks like to find creative solutions to how we can work together to build more secure food systems.
