Jade Ammones

Creative Arts (Art History)

Jade is majoring both in studio art and art history. During her years at Stetson, she has consistently demonstrated creativity, intellectual originality and diligence. However, what sets her apart from other excellent students is her ability to identify and analyze disciplinary blind spots. As an art history student, Jade is relentless in questioning the discipline’s assumptions and practices in her research.

Jade’s senior research, which she presented at two national conferences, is based on her project on the institutional policies and practices of the Hand Art Center, which stems from her steadfast belief that art institutions should and could be improved. She analyzed demographic data concerning HAC staffing, collections, and audience; conducted interviews with former and current directors and staff; and most importantly, outlined equity initiatives, demonstrating her deep commitment to calling attention to and combatting racism.
