Gabrielle des Ruisseau
Aside from being an outstanding student, Gabrielle des Ruisseau became a certified resume coach, served as secretary of Stetson's chapter of Psi Chi, (International Honor Society in Psychology), was a teaching apprentice and participated in a yearlong paid internship with Stetson Wesley.
Her professors noted her professionalism and hard work in class, but she stands out from her peers in terms of her willingness to take risks. Her senior research and psychometrics course projects are excellent examples of what can be accomplished when a student is willing to challenge conventional thinking. Her senior research project examined the protective effects of ethnic identity, and in her psychometric course, she developed a measure of internalized homophobia, a risk factor for depression among LGBTQ+ individuals.
After graduation, Gabrielle plans to take a gap year to study for the GRE and gain more research experience. She seeks to pursue a doctorate in developmental psychology while conducting research focused on areas of identity and risk and resilience factors in young adults.
