Daniela Anant

Communication and Media Studies

Daniela Anant is a double-major in communication and media studies, and world languages and cultures with a concentration in Hispanic studies. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society (American first-year students) and Lambda Pi Eta (the National Honor Society for Communication Studies), along with Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International.

Anant is diligent, insightful, tenacious and smart, according to professors. She has a quiet confidence and intellectual maturity that are beyond her years. She was a digital and news intern at Hearst Media's WESH 2 News in Orlando, Florida, and also interned at the U.S. Senate.

According to her thesis adviser, Michael McFarland, PhD, Anant "didn't choose the shiny bauble, but she found something she could drill down into" for her senior thesis, which was tentatively titled "We Shall Overcome": Consubstantial Rivalry and Democratic Dissent in Lyndon B. Johnson's Voting Rights Address.
