Cynthia Brea

Economics

The Economics Department is proud to honor Cynthia Brea for her outstanding work across all four years and in her senior research project. Cynthia is an outstanding student who is a pleasure to teach; she is engaged in class and asks excellent questions.  Similarly, she chose an interesting senior project.  Her work investigates the impact of pro-natalist policies on birth rates across countries, which is both a relevant policy question, as developed countries have seen declining birth rates in recent years, and a challenging project for data collection and analysis.  Cynthia has collected and cleaned the data for this project and conducted a sophisticated analysis to isolate the impact of specific policies while controlling for other factors.  After graduation, Cynthia plans to join Teach for America in the Miami-Dade public school system.
