Breanna Shi entered Stetson in fall 2018 as a transfer student majoring in mathematics, with concentrations in astrophysics and bio-mathematics. During that time, Breanna also was employed as a mathematics tutor and student adviser, and she was responsible for re-starting the mathematics club, QED, and served as the club’s president. Additionally, she was a member of the Stetson Environmental Club and a frequent performer at Stetson’s Uncouth Open-Mic Night, where she was able to make many friends across the university.
Among her many notable academic achievements, Breanna attended the Joint Math Meetings in 2019 and 2020, where she presented and conducted mathematics research. As part of QED, she participated in a differential equations modeling competition for university students. Also, she presented a joint-poster at the Mathematical Association of America/Florida Chapter.
Breanna’s future plans include pursuing her doctorate degree in computational biology and mathematics at the University of Minnesota.
