Andrea Gutierrez is an environmental studies major with a minor in sustainable food systems and a certificate in community engagement. Andrea excelled academically in all of her coursework and is the first in her family to graduate from college.
Andrea was in the Bonner Program as a member of the Tri-Alpha First-Generation Honor Society at Stetson, where she devoted time and energy to community service. Andrea was a Green Volusia Program Intern, where she helped to educate the community about responsible environmental practices and also promoted sustainability. In addition to these pursuits, she was the trip leader for the Alternative Spring Break to Guatemala, which was a service-learning experience for all involved. Andrea continued her service work into her senior research project, where she developed a food garden plan for a local community that included educational programming recommendations and a proposal for a food garden manager.
Upon graduation, Andrea will initially pursue work in food systems and sustainability and hopes to eventually continue on into graduate work.
