Alexus arrived at Stetson as a Bonner Scholar. With a keen eye on leadership and service, Alexus served on the Bonner Lead Team as both a First-Year Class-Based Leader and Systemic Racism Issue Area Leader. In these roles, she served as a facilitator of personal and community development. Throughout her years at Stetson University, she interned at the Lacey Family Spring Hill Boys and Girls Club.
Guided by her passion for community, service, and empowering underserved youth coupled with her understanding of the need for equity, representation and the application of an intersectional lens, Alexus served as a Youth Programming Specialist and partnered with the DeLand Regional Library to establish a Youth Empowerment Literacy Program. Concurrently, Alexus served as a Stetson student leader on the Poverty and Homelessness Conference Committee.
Alexus has served as a Research Apprentice for Dr. Nicole Banton, who states that Alexus is a “rising scholar, lover of knowledge, critical thought entrepreneur and growing activist.” Dr. Banton looks forward to having Alexus as a “Sistren sociologist” and continuing the “nonlinear conversations about everything.”
