Showcase: Nelson Quezada Herrera

Nelson majors in political science and English, minors in history and is pursuing the certificate of community engagement. For his SURE grant project, Nelson examined the effects of issue-framing and identity-priming on support for the Green New Deal. He then extended his findings by conducting a more narrowed experiment on the same topic for his senior research project in political science.

Nelson's mentor for the SURE grant was Steven Smallpage, PhD, a professor in political science. Nelson’s senior research project was accepted for the American Political Science Association annual conference, and he is planning to present it in September. After Stetson, he hopes to attend graduate school to earn a doctorate in political science.
