Florida United Malacologists Gathering 2017

Saturday, February 18, 2017

Stetson University, DeLand, Florida

The eighth meeting of Florida United Malacologists will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Allen Hall Auditorium at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.

The Stetson University Institute for Water and Environmental Residence is hosting the event.

The one-day gathering aims to enhance communication among professionals, collectors, citizen scientists, students and everyone in-between with topics covering a broad range of subjects in malacology. The gathering will be free to presenters and all registered participants.

Florida United Malacologists (FUM) are part of a growing network of people who appreciate and study mollusks. Across the country, mollusk-loving groups are sharing their research and fascination in informal gatherings from San Francisco Bay to the Ohio Valley and the mid-Atlantic coast. There is no formal membership and there are no dues, officers or publications. Our gatherings support the sharing of information, research and adventures discovering these marine creatures.

On February 18, 2017, Florida United Malacology colleagues will gather for a day-long event to hear presentations and share experiences. Presentations are limited to 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Presenters are required to submit a brief abstract limited to 150 words or less. Abstracts will be selected on a first come basis, so send your presentation request as soon as possible.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is January 10, 2017.

If you are planning to submit an abstract of your presentation, the form for submitting abstracts and registering is available at

Presenters will be announced in the FUM Gathering program and posted on the website of the Institute shortly after the submission deadline.
