On July 1, 2020, Christopher F. Roellke, PhD, became the 10th president of Stetson University - in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, we will celebrate his presidency with an official inauguration. Hatters everywhere, please join in the fun and festivities!
Long before he was even officially in office, he was active in Stetson's COVID-19 discussions and is widely credited for instilling three principles in all of Stetson’s actions and decisions: empathy, kindness, and shared ownership.
He led efforts with faculty and students to establish priorities for the university budget in the face of the pandemic, with a net result of a better-than-expected 2020-2021, putting Stetson in a solid financial position. Moody’s recently announced the university's "stable" rating is remaining unchanged despite the overall impact of COVID-19 on colleges and universities everywhere.
Roellke launched a series of weekly and monthly webinars, now known by his nickname, "Rolks Report Live," that has been well received by students, faculty and staff, and he is credited for maintaining open communications with the university community during the past academic year.

For more than a year we have learned to live with uncertainty and from all indications that will continue, and we hope you understand as plans evolve. More than anything we want to see you in person. Stetson is at its best when we are face to face, but our first responsibility is to the health and safety of the Stetson community.
Stetson University follows state and local guidance and recommendations from the Safer Campus Task Force, Florida Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Current plans allow for limited attendance and virtual viewing options with the ability to shift dependent on the status of COVID-19 cases in Florida and the country. All attendees will be required to follow Stetson’s COVID-19 guidelines, which may include, but are not limited to, wearing an approved mask or facial covering, and adhering to physical distancing requirements.
