Graduates and Faculty Check-In
Master's degree candidates and faculty are asked to arrive in regalia at 4:00 p.m. to the Hollis Center, Rinker Fieldhouse. In preparation for the processional, graduates will be placed in alphabetical order by the degree they are receiving. All personal belongings must accompany you to the ceremony, so it is suggested to limit the number of items.
Graduate Name Cards
At check-in, you will be provided a yellow name card. Please fill in the pronunciation of your name, if needed, for the announcer. Complete the back side of the card with the information required by the photographer who will provide proofs after the ceremony. Do not lose, destroy or leave the card in your seat when it is time to line up for the processional. This yellow card will need to go with you to Edmunds Center and will be given to the announcer on stage.
Promptly at 4:40 p.m. the faculty and graduates will line up to begin their processional. Led by the faculty marshal, the faculty and then the graduates will process down Bert Fish Ave across Pennsylvania Avenue and into Edmunds Center where the platform party will join them.
The procession line-up will be the following:
1. Mace Bearer
2. Platform Party
4. College of Arts and Sciences
5. School of Business Administration
Once the degrees are conferred, at the direction of the marshal, candidates will approach the stage and proceed with the hooding process below:
With your hood draped over your left arm, walk onto the stage, hand the name card to the announcer at the podium and continue to the marked stage location. Extend your arm for the hooder to pick up your hood, and then turn to face the audience. Once the hood is placed, continue across the stage, shake hands with your dean, provost and president and exit the stage for your formal photo and then return to your seat.
Live ASL interpreters will be provided for the Graduate Commencement Ceremony.
