How do I log into Canvas?
Please visit our Canvas LMS and login using your Stetson credentials.
When will the switch from Blackboard to Canvas occur?
Stetson University will fully transition from Blackboard to Canvas in June, 2021.
What will be last day to access Blackboard?
Blackboard will be unavailable starting June 13th, 2021 at 11:59pm.
What semesters will the transition affect?
DeLand Campus
Stetson University will utilize Blackboard through the spring 2021 semester and begin using Canvas for the summer 2021 semester.
Gulfport Campus
Stetson University College of Law will utilize Blackboard through the spring 2021 semester and begin using Canvas for the summer 2021 semester.
How will courses be transferred from Blackboard to Canvas?
The Office of Information Technology (IT) and Canvas will transfer all courses from Blackboard to Canvas during the transition period. Faculty members are asked to review and check his or her course for proper transfer and usability.
What do faculty need to do to prepare for this transition?
To prepare for the transition to Canvas, we recommend,
- Completing the self-paced course, Growing with Canvas
- Playing around in your Sandbox found in the Canvas LMS
- Using the Canvas Instructor Guide to find resources
- Attending any of the OOLET Canvas workshops that fits your schedule
What do students need to do to prepare for this transition?
Students may participate in the Canvas course, Passport to Canvas. This self-paced course allows students to master the skills necessary to successfully utilize the Canvas LMS.
What about students needing to finish work in a class in which she or he received an incomplete?
All previous Blackboard courses are being archived. In the event that a faculty member needs access to past work, OOLET has a variety of options to access the data. A new course can be set-up in Canvas to allow students to finish the work required for completion of the course.
What if a faculty member needs to access past Blackboard classes?
IT and OOLET will archive all past Blackbaord classes. If a faculty member needs access to past materials, OOLET will retrieve the requested materials for the faculty member. Due to the nature of the Blackboard archive data, faculty members will not be able to access the class and materials themselves. To request access to past materials, please email [email protected].
Will all of the tools that were used in Blackboard work in Canvas?
Yes. With the exception of Wikis and Journals, all tools that were utilized in Blackboard will be available in Canvas.
How do I save my old Blackboard Collaborate recordings?
Follow the directions to download Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recordings.
