As previously communicated, the final day to access the production instance of Blackboard will be June 13, 2021. At this time, all teaching materials currently in Blackboard have been archived by the OOLET team. Canvas is in the process of importing this past Fall and Spring semester courses into our instance of Canvas.

Dear Campus Community,
As previously announced, Stetson is transitioning its learning management system (LMS) to Canvas. Our initial 6-week sprint to transitioning the Learning Management System (LMS) is completed. We are on schedule based on our transition milestones. Here are a few updates:
We are finalizing Banner integration.
We are implementing a new course template structure.
The Faculty/Staff LMS Transition Team met to determine how to facilitate ease of transition. There is significant expertise among the team.
The Academic Technology Committee has created a process for collecting FAQs from the transition team. The committee comprises representative from each school/college unit.
Canvas workshops have already started and will continue to be offered in spring, throughout the summer and beyond.
IMPORTANT: As a reminder, access to Blackboard will end on June 13, 2021.
To find updates on the transition, visit the Canvas website often. Questions can be sent to the Office of Online Learning & Educational Technology at [email protected]

Stetson's Academic Affairs/IT Collaborative

After unsuccessful negotiations with Blackboard to dispute some obscure charges and performance issues, Stetson University is transitioning to a new learning management system. The decision to choose Canvas as the new LMS is the result of university-wide conversations, the academic benefits, consultation with peer institutions, and review of industry standards.
Significant progress is being made. A university-wide faculty/staff LMS transition team has been selected to provide your feedback to the implementation team to facilitate a smooth transition. The implementation team and faculty/staff transition teams are collaborating closely as illustrated in the matrix below.
Technical development is following a six (6) week plan and is going very well. Some milestones include template roll-out and integration (e.g. integration with Zoom, Teams and Office 365); initial integration of Banner; single sign-on authentication; a plan for course migration which prioritizes summer courses and activities; and a schedule for upcoming professional development workshops. The LMS Transition website offers information about how to get involved, how course migrations will occur, diverse workshops and training options including Canvas clinics, self-paced training, faculty-driven professional development, implementation timelines, and FAQs. Check the website often for updates and/or contact Ben Brown, interim director of the Office of Online Learning & Educational Technology, with questions and comments.
Given the aggressive timeline for full implementation (July 2021), we are particularly grateful to you for the university-wide support to date. We are committed to providing Stetson’s community of students, faculty and staff with a state-of-the-art LMS and appreciate your collaboration as we learn together.
