Northeast Florida AHEC

Stetson University's program is sponsored by Northeast Florida AHEC, which has cessation programs all over the State of Florida. AHEC works to promote better health at a community level by sponsoring cessation programs and educating health care professionals about ways that they can help their patients to become tobacco free. AHEC provides the university with funding for tobacco cessation programs, community education about the dangers of second-hand smoke and the transition to a tobacco-free campus; the funding also provides salaries for a graduate assistant and several Tobacco Peer Educators whose task is to organize the programs and work on tobacco initiative projects.
