Deadline today to register for Values Day

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, Stetson University will celebrate its annual Values Day tradition of taking a day from classes to explore Stetson’s core values of personal growth, intellectual development and global citizenship.

The theme of Values Day this year is Building Cultures of Empathy and Respect: A day of reflection and action focusing on how we build a community that embraces empathy and respect. Students can receive free Values Day swag and Schmancy Ice Cream Pops!

The deadline to register for Values Day is today, Monday, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m.

In order to support the ability of the entire Stetson University community to attend Values Day, the university cancels classes and closes offices, with the exception of evening graduate classes. The entire community is expected to participate in this day of reflection, community and action.

We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker will be Pulitzer Prize winner and author of “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents,” Isabel Wilkerson. Isabel will be speaking virtually at 6 p.m. via Zoom, followed by time for questions and answers. There are also a few copies left of her book at the duPont-Ball Library that individuals can pick up on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more about the speaker on Stetson Today.

Values Day will have many in-person events and a few virtual events. You can register for Values Day in order to receive updates and the virtual classroom links to participate in the day’s virtual events.

The schedule for the day includes:

  • 9 – 9:50 a.m. | Yoga
  • 10 – 11 a.m. | An Experiential Introduction to Tai Chi
