Martha Underriner is an artist and educator, based in DeLand, and is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Florida. Her process is an act of reflective nostalgia. She explores the connections between memory and domestic space as a meditation on the way women operate within a patriarchal society. Within that context, she explores domestic spaces, the experience of the everyday, the emotional and domestic labor of women, and traditional imagery and objects associated as feminine.
June 4 – Margaret Hull
Fresh As Fruit gallery is an artist-run exhibition space located in the storefront window of a working mechanic’s shop. This year’s series of pop-up exhibitions highlights underrepresented artists, particularly LGBTQ+ artists, women, mothers and artists of color. Visiting professors in the Creative Arts (CREA) department, Katie Baczeski and Madison Creech, along with Matthew Creech, have curated and cofounded the space at Fresh As Fruit for the students and larger DeLand community to experience contemporary art from all over the nation.
