Win $500 for your best published journalism

If you’re a current Stetson student and you’ve written and published journalism during the past year, either in print or online, you can win $500 and the Josephine Field Davidson Award for Integrity in Journalism.

The annual Journalism Program award is given to the best piece of reporting and writing that demonstrates integrity, accuracy, clarity and unselfish concern for others.

Stetson faculty will select a winner based on which submission best exemplifies those criteria, which were characteristic of the late Josephine Field Davidson, editor of The News-Journal. The award was established by Stetson alumni Bill and Sally Gillespie, along with donations by friends, family and colleagues of the former editor of the News-Journal. It’s presented by the Journalism program, which is part of Stetson’s Communication and Media Studies Department.

To enter:

  • Choose your best piece of news, editorial, sports or feature writing published during the past year, between Jan. 1, 2020, and March 1, 2021.
  • Submit it and your information via this form.
  • Deadline: Friday, March 5, 2021, at noon ET. (Entries that don’t meet the deadline or other requirements will be discarded.)
