Gillespie Museum offers 2 virtual Cultural Credit events

Stetson’s Gillespie Museum has two Cultural Credit opportunities available to students:

  • Art in Nature: Gillespie Museum’s Throughline Gallery

Choose from a number of art in nature prompts and submit a sketch, poem, painting, photo or journal page to the Gillespie Museum’s Throughline gallery: for a Cultural Credit. Each week, the museum publishes a new creative prompt about plants, animals, insects or ecosystems, asking students to respond through various creative mediums.

Curated by student staff members of the Gillespie Museum, this project seeks to make interdisciplinary connections and to raise environmental awareness through creative activities. If on campus, we encourage you to visit the museum grounds to see some of our environmental initiatives ( ); or find inspiration on our resources page ( ).

To participate: (1) Go to the gallery website to choose a prompt:; (2) Submit your art to the Throughline gallery; and (3) send a brief email to the museum ( with your name, student ID, and a 100-word description of your environmental message or concern.

  • Armchair Spelunking: Florida’s Caves and Karst Formation

Wish you could crawl in a cave from time to time? Here’s a chance to experience Florida’s caves and karst formations, in slippers not boots. View a brief video from the museum’s educational resources (, complete a worksheet ( ), and return it to the museum email address (, with your name and student ID to receive Cultural Credit.
