Deliberating About Things That Matter: “Redeeming Male Hazing” — an informal lecture given by alumnus Jay Mechling, PhD — will be hosted by Phi Beta Kappa on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Rinker Environmental Learning Center (adjacent to Gillespie Museum), 4:30-6 p.m.

Dr. Mechling has taught at the University of California – Davis for 40 years on various topics of American studies. His current research is focused on “hazing and American culture.” He will discuss the social institution of hazing, its place in American culture, and the process of researching and writing.
