Building Resilience is a skills-based group designed for students who experience intense emotions and mood swings or whose emotional pain may lead to angry outbursts, relationship turmoil or self-injury. Sometimes self-defeating behaviors seem to offer short-term relief, but end up causing problems that make life even more difficult. DBT is a confidential group for men and women who help group members target the issues that cause distress and teaches skills to deal with these problems without resorting to unhealthy behaviors. Group members complete workbook assignments during the course of the group. Homework topics that correspond to the skill topics discussed in the group are routinely assigned and reviewed.
