Residential Living and Learning, with our partners at the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, are choosing to celebrate love in all of its forms this Valentine’s Day through the Only Love Project. This initiative is an important way we can support our entire campus community but most especially our LGBTQ+ students, staff and faculty. We encourage anyone participating in this initiative to wear WHITE this Thursday and post to social media under #OnlyLove and take a picture behind our backdrop at the RelationTips Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Thursday at the Rinker Field House.
Here is some more information about the Only Love Project.
About Only Love
The Only Love Project was established at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Oct. 8, 2010. The project was created in response to the national epidemic of bullying specifically targeted at members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender community.
The project is simple: college campuses holding photo shoots or campaigns that feature students on campus commit to speaking love for all people. The photos are then displayed through social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and on campus in a gallery, so that all members of that institution can see and support the project.
To love someone, it is something that seems so easy to do, yet there is so much hate spread through bullying, bashing and violence. These photos represent our desire for happiness and love for everyone. We, as college students, the future of America, believe that everyone deserves a chance to love and to be loved. We speak only love for all people. These photos seek to raise awareness for anyone who is struggling and to show them that people in their communities care.
These photos share a story. These photos share our love.
Thanks again for participating! I hope you all have an amazing week and a very happy Valentine’s Day!
